UNIVERSITY CITY — Target is planning to build a new store here at Interstate 170 and Olive Boulevard, developers announced Monday.
The new location will be next to Costco at the Market at Olive shopping center and will span 148,000 square feet. The Market at Olive developers said the store will be the largest in the St. ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëùµ¼º½ÍøÖ· region, according to a release.
A two-story parking garage also will be built. A timeline for construction was not disclosed.

The announcement follows the opening two weeks ago of a new Target store in the Midtown neighborhood in St. ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëùµ¼º½ÍøÖ· city.
The Market at Olive shopping center spans both sides of Olive between McKnight and Woodson roads in University City. Other retailers include Chick-fil-A, First Watch and 7 Brew.

Its developers include Bob Clark, founder of construction giant Clayco; Larry Chapman of Seneca Commercial Real Estate; David Hutkin of Hutkin Properties Group; and Caroline Saunders, who serves as general counsel for the team, according to a release.
The new store will mark a return to University City for the national retailer. Target operated a location just east of the Ruth Park Golf Course on Olive before it closed in 1988 due to flat sales.
The sale of the property closed Aug. 2. The sales price was not disclosed.
